Indications
- Acute and chronic psychoses

Pharmacology
Selective monoaminergic antagonist with high affinity for serotoninergic 5-HT(2) and dopaminergic D(2) receptors
Dosage & Administration
- Usual dose range 4-6 mg daily
- Elderly dosage: 1 mg daily initially, increased in steps of 1-2 mg twice daily
Interactions
- May antagonize effects of levodopa and dopamine agonists
- Chronic administration with Carbamazepine reduces plasma clearance
- May enhance effects of certain antihypertensives

- Renal and hepatic impairment caution
- Elderly, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and pregnancy precautions
