Description
- The combination of two antacids (Calcium carbonate and Sodium bicarbonate) and an alginate (Sodium alginate). Suitable for treating gastric reflux, heartburn, indigestion, flatulence associated with gastric reflux.
DosageAndAdministration
- For oral suspension and chewable tablets
- Adult and children over 12 years: 10-20 mL after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day
- Children 6 to 12 years: 5-10 mL after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day
- Children under 6 years: Not recommended
- Elderly: No dose modifications necessary
- Chewable Tablet dosage: Adults and children 12 years and over: take two to four tablets after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day

- Flatulence associated with gastric reflux
- Heartburn of pregnancy
- Epigastric and retrosternal distress related to gastric reflux
Pharmacology
- Neutralizing excess stomach acid to relieve pain and discomfort
- Forming a protective barrier over stomach contents to soothe burning pain in the chest
- Physical mode of action, not dependent on absorption into the systemic circulation
Interaction
- Consider a time-interval of 2 hours between Ariscon intake and the administration of other medicinal products, especially specific medications like Tetracyclines, Digoxine, Fluoroquinolone, Iron salt, Ketoconazole, Neuroleptics, Thyroid Hormones, beta-blockers, Glucocorticoid, Chloroquine, and Biphosphonates

- Patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or excipients

- High sodium content in each 20 ml dose, to be considered in highly restricted salt diet cases
- Calcium content in each 20 ml dose
- Not generally recommended for children under 12 years except on medical advice
- Considerations for patients with hypercalcaemia, nephrocalcinosis, recurrent calcium containing renal calculi
- Not recommended for patients with phenylketonuria due to aspartame content
