Indications

  • Treatment of deep vein thrombosis
  • Treatment of unstable angina and non-Q-wave myocardial infarction
  • Prevention of thrombus formation in the extra-corporal circulation during haemodialysis
  • Prophylaxis of venous thromboembolic disease
  • Prophylaxis of venous thromboembolic disease in medical patients

Composition

  • Enoxaparin Sodium BP 20 mg
  • Enoxaparin Sodium BP 40 mg
  • Enoxaparin Sodium BP 60 mg
  • Enoxaparin Sodium BP 80 mg

Pharmacology

Low molecular weight heparin with high anti-Xa activity

Dosage

  • Subcutaneously 100 anti-Xa lU/kg twice daily for 10 days
  • Subcutaneously 150 anti-Xa lU/kg once daily for 10 days
  • Oral anticoagulant therapy initiation
  • Concurrent administration with aspirin

Interaction

Recommendation to discontinue agents affecting hemostasis prior to therapy

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to Enoxaparin Sodium
  • Active major bleeding
  • Conditions with high risk of uncontrolled hemorrhage

  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Elevations of serum aminotransferase
  • Pain at injection sites
  • Bluish marks at injection sites
  • Skin rash at injection sites
  • Neuraxial hematomas risk

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • No evidence of crossing placental barrier
  • Use during pregnancy if clearly needed
  • Unknown excretion in human milk
  • Consideration for nursing mothers

Precautions & Warnings

  • Deep subcutaneous route for injection
  • Caution in conditions with increased potential for bleeding
  • Regular platelet count measurement

Overdose Effects

Accidental overdosage may lead to hemorrhagic complications. Protamine sulfate as antidote
