Indications
- Eradication of H. pylori in active chronic gastric ulcers
- Eradication of H. pylori in active duodenal ulcers
Pharmacology
- Lansoprazole is a proton-pump inhibitor
- Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis
- Clarithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dose: One strip twice daily for 7-14 days
- Geriatric use: Careful administration in elderly patients with renal and hepatic dysfunction
Interaction
- Lansoprazole metabolized through cytochrome P450 system
- Clarithromycin may increase serum theophylline concentrations
- Reports of interactions with various drugs like carbamazepine, cyclosporine, tacrolimus, etc.
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component
