Indications
- Treatment of single or mixed infections caused by susceptible organisms
- Infections caused by organisms resistant to other antibiotics
- Urinary, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and gonorrhea infections
- Infections of the skin, soft tissue, biliary tract, intra-abdominal, bone, joint, pelvic, eye, ear, nose, throat
- Pneumonia, bronchitis, and cystic fibrosis
- Dosage range for adults: 100-750 mg twice daily
- Dosage based on severity of infection and patient's age, weight, and renal function
- Duration of treatment depends on severity of infection and clinical response
- Elderly: No dosage adjustment necessary
- Children: Dosage based on severity of infection, administered in two divided doses
- Administration: Instructions for IV infusion
- Interaction: Avoid concurrent administration with certain antacids, sucralfate, or products containing Calcium, Iron, or Zinc
- Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin or other quinolones
- Side Effects: Gastrointestinal disturbances, central nervous system disturbances, hypersensitivity reactions, joint pain, photosensitivity
- Pregnancy & Lactation: Not recommended during pregnancy or nursing mothers
- Precautions & Warnings: Use with caution in patients with CNS disorders, avoid concurrent administration with certain products
- Use in Special Populations: Not the first choice in pediatric population
- Overdose Effects: Seizures, hallucinations, confusion, abdominal discomfort, renal and hepatic impairment, crystalluria
- Therapeutic Class: 4-Quinolone preparations, Anti-diarrhoeal Antimicrobial drugs
