Description

Combination of two antacids (Calcium carbonate and Sodium bicarbonate) and an alginate. Indicated for gastric reflux, heartburn, indigestion, and flatulence associated with gastric reflux.

Pharmacology

  • Neutralizing excess stomach acid
  • Forming a protective barrier over the stomach contents
  • Rapid reaction with gastric acid
  • Formation of alginic acid gel
  • Reducing esophageal acid exposure
  • Floating on stomach contents to impede gastro-esophageal reflux
  • Protecting the esophagus from acid, pepsin, and bile

Dosage & Administration

  • Oral suspension for adults and children over 12 years
  • Chewable tablet for adults and children 12 years and over
  • Hepatic impairment dose modification not necessary
  • Caution in renal insufficiency with highly restricted salt diet

Interaction

  • Consider 2-hour time interval between intake and other medicinal products
  • Caution with specific medications like tetracyclines, digoxin, fluoroquinolone, iron salt, etc.
