Description
Defcort is a medication used for indications such as anaphylaxis, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, ulcerative colitis, nephrotic syndrome, uveitis, and more. It provides anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive actions through the inhibition of Phospholipase A2 enzyme and modulation of immune system chemicals.

- Interaction:
- Metabolized in the liver
- May require dose adjustment with liver enzyme inducers or inhibitors
- Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to Defcort or any of its ingredients
- Patients receiving live virus immunization

- Potential risk of intrauterine growth retardation during prolonged or repeated use in pregnancy

- Precautions & Warnings:
- Caution in cardiac disease, hypertension, thromboembolic disorders
- Monitoring for salt and water retention, potassium excretion
- Special caution in gastritis, oesophagitis, ulcerative colitis, peptic ulcer
- Monitoring in diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, myasthenia gravis
- Frequent patient monitoring for several other clinical conditions
- Use in Special Populations:
- Dose adjustment in hepatic impairment
- No special precautions in renally impaired patients and elderly
