Pharmacology
- Combination of Calcium carbonate and Sodium bicarbonate
- Contains Sodium alginate
- Neutralizes excess stomach acid
- Forms protective barrier over stomach contents
- Does not rely on systemic circulation absorption
- Forms Alginic Acid gel with near neutral pH
- Interacts with and caps acid pocket in stomach
- Reduces esophageal acid exposure
- Floats on stomach contents to impede gastro-esophageal reflux
- Protects esophagus from Acid, Pepsin, and Bile
- Entwines bile and pepsin
- Fast relief from indigestion and heartburn
- Increased neutralizing action by Sodium Bicarbonate
Dosage & Administration
- For oral suspension
- Adult and children over 12 years: 10-20 mL after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day
- Children 6 to 12 years: 5-10 mL after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day
- Children under 6 years: Not recommended
- Elderly: No dose modifications necessary
- Chewable Tablet for oral route
- Adults and children 12 years and over: 2-4 tablets after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day
- Hepatic Impairment: No dose modification necessary
- Caution for renal insufficiency with highly restricted salt diet
Interaction
- Consider time-interval of 2 hours with other medicinal products
- Especially with Tetracyclines, Digoxine, Fluoroquinolone, Iron salt, Ketoconazole, Neuroleptics, Thyroid Hormones, Penicillamine, beta-blockers, Glucocorticoid, Chloroquine, Biphosphonates and Estramustine
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to active ingredients or excipients

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Safe for use during pregnancy if clinically needed
- No effects shown in breastfed newborns/infants
- No negative effect on fertility or reproduction
Precautions & Warnings
- Sodium content of each 20 ml dose: 254.5 mg (11.06 mmol)
- Calcium content of each 20 ml dose: 260 mg (6.5 mmol)
- Care needed in hypercalcaemia, nephrocalcinosis, and recurrent calcium containing renal calculi
- Not generally recommended for children under 12 years without medical advice
- High in sodium, caution with highly restricted salt diet
- Contains aspartame, unsuitable for patients with phenylketonuria
- Consult a physician if symptoms persist or treatment is required for more than 7 days continuously
- Can mask symptoms of other serious underlying medical conditions
- Not for use in patients with impaired renal function/insufficiency and hypophosphatemia
- Potential for allergic reactions
