Description
- Indications:
- Treatment of onychomycosis of toenail or fingernail
- Tinea Capitis
- Fungal infections of the skin
- Pityriasis (tinea) versicolor
- Pharmacology:
- Inhibition of Ergosterol biosynthesis
- Fungicidal activity against Tricophyton Mentagrophyte, Trichophyton Rubrum
- Increased membrane permeability
- Dosage & Administration:
- 250mg once daily for 6-12 weeks
- Application once or twice daily
- Cleansing and drying affected areas before application
- Interaction:
- Inhibitor of CYP450 2D6 isozyme
- Potential drug class interactions
- Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to terbinafine
- Side Effects:
- Gastrointestinal symptoms
- Liver test abnormalities
- Rashes
- Urticaria
- Taste disturbances
- Idiosyncratic and symptomatic hepatic injury
