Side Effects
Mega-doses may cause diarrhea, abdominal bloating, harmful iron over-absorption, hyperoxaluria, hyperuricosuria, hemolysis. High doses during pregnancy may cause fetal abortion.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Safe in normal doses during pregnancy and lactation. High daily intake may cause abortion.
Precautions & Warnings
- Ingestion of megadose during pregnancy has resulted in neonatal scurvy
- Contraindicated for patients with hyperoxaluria
- Can give false positive reactions in certain analytical tests
