Pharmacology

  • Selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SSNRI)
  • No significant affinity for various receptors
  • No inhibition of monoamine oxidase (MAO)

Dosage & Administration

  • Starting Dose: 30-60 mg/day
  • Target Dose: 30-60 mg/day for various conditions
  • Maximum Dose: 120 mg/day

Interaction

  • Metabolism via CYP1A2 and CYP2D6 isozymes
  • Inhibition by fluvoxamine and similar drugs
  • Higher concentrations with potent CYP2D6 inhibitors

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to the drug or inactive ingredients
  • Not approved for treating bipolar depression
  • Not for patients with substantial alcohol use or chronic liver disease
  • Cautious use in patients with controlled narrow-angle glaucoma
