Indications
- Prevention of itching associated with allergic conjunctivitis
Pharmacology
- Contains Alcaftadine, a histamine receptor antagonist
- Inhibitor of histamine release from mast cells
- Potent histamine H2 and H4 receptor antagonist
- Demonstrated anti-inflammatory property
Dosage & Administration
- Adults and children 2 years and over: Instill one drop in each eye once daily
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component
Side Effects
- Ocular reactions: eye irritation, burning, stinging, redness, pruritus
- Systemic reactions: nasopharyngitis, headache
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy category B
- Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
- Caution in nursing women
Precautions & Warnings
- Care not to touch the eyelids or surrounding areas with the dropper tip
- Not to wear contact lens if the eye is red
- Not to use for contact lens related irritation
- Remove contact lenses prior to instillation
- Each ophthalmic medicinal product to be used at least 5 minutes apart
Use in Special Populations
- Safety and effectiveness not established in pediatric patients below 2 years
