Indications
- Treatment of post-operative ocular pain
- Inhibition of surgery induced miosis
- Prevention of post-operative cystoid macular edema
- Post-operative pain and inflammation associated with cataract surgery
Pharmacology
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory prodrug (NSAID)
- Conversion to Amfenac
- Inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzyme
- Prostaglandin synthesis
Dosage & Administration
- Instill 1 drop 3 times daily for post-operative pain & inflammation
- Instill 1 drop 3 times daily for surgery induced miosis
- Instill 1 drop 3 times daily for prevention of post-operative CME
- Instill 1 drop once daily for post-operative pain & inflammation
- Additional drop 30 to 120 minutes prior to surgery
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to ingredients
- Hypersensitivity to other NSAIDs
Side Effects
- Foreign body sensation
- Lid margin crusting
- Ocular discomfort
- Ocular hyperemia
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use in pregnancy with caution
- Use in lactation with caution
Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in patients with bleeding tendencies
- Use with caution in patients receiving medications prolonging bleeding time
Use in Special Populations
- Safety and effectiveness not established in pediatric patients below 18 years of age
- No overall differences in safety or effectiveness observed in elderly patients
