Description
- Levamolin (Levamlodipine) Tablet is a calcium channel blocker indicated for the treatment of hypertension in adults and pediatric patients 6 years and older, to lower blood pressure. It may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions. Levamlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium antagonist that inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. It is available in oral tablet form and should be taken orally. The usual initial antihypertensive oral dose is 2.5 mg once daily, and the maximum dose is 5 mg once daily. Dosage needs to be adjusted according to blood pressure goals, with a waiting period between titration steps. This medicine is contraindicated in patients with known sensitivity to amlodipine. Common side effects may include difficulty in breathing, dizziness, reflex tachycardia, hypotension, abdominal pain, and edema.
