Indications
- Temporarily relieves symptoms of common cold and allergies
- Relieves cough, runny nose, sneezing, itching, nasal congestion
- Reduces swelling of nasal passages
- Provides relief from itchy, watery eyes
Pharmacology
- Combination of antitussive, decongestant, and antihistamine agents
- Contains Dextromethorphan, Phenylephrine, and Triprolidine
- Dextromethorphan acts on the cough center in the medulla
- Phenylephrine shrinks blood vessels in nasal passages
- Triprolidine is a histamine H1-receptor antagonist
Dosage
- Adults & Children 12 years and older: 1 teaspoonful every 4 hours
- Children 6 to under 12 years: ½ teaspoonful every 4 hours
- Children 2 to 6 years: Use with caution as advised by the physician
- Not to be used in children below 2 years old
Administration
- Can be taken with or without food
- Measure liquid doses carefully
- Use the provided measuring device
Interaction
- Avoid MAO inhibitors during treatment
- Exercise caution with antihistamines, beta blockers, antidepressants
- Avoid certain medications for two weeks before use
Contraindications
- Avoid in patients with liver disease or asthma
- Contraindicated in patients on MAO inhibitors
- Not for use in patients with severe hypertension or coronary artery disease
Side Effects
- May cause drowsiness, constipation, dizziness
- Other side effects include GIT discomfort
- Less common side effects: hypertension, dry mouth, restlessness

Overdose Effects
- Hospital admission advised in cases of overdose
- May cause respiratory depression, hallucinations, convulsions
- Treatment includes stomach emptying and sedatives like diazepam
