Indications

Description
Unknown precise mechanism of antiepileptic effect, minimal activity in submaximal stimulation, inhibition of burst firing in epileptiform activity, prevention of hyper synchronization of seizure activity
Dosage

Administration
Oral administration, to be taken with sufficient quantity of liquid, administered in two equally divided doses
Interaction
- No influence on serum concentrations of existing antiepileptic medicinal products
- Inhibition of renal clearance of primary metabolite by probenecid
- Concomitant administration with methotrexate may decrease methotrexate clearance
- Isolated reports of decreased efficacy when administered with osmotic laxative
- No alteration of absorption by food, slightly reduced rate of absorption

Hypersensitivity to active substance, pyrrolidone derivatives, or excipients

Pregnancy & Lactation
Not recommended during pregnancy, excreted in human breast milk, no impact on fertility in animal studies
Precautions & Warnings

- Monitoring for signs of depression and suicidal ideation and behavior recommended
- Tablet formulation not adapted for use in infants and children under 6 years
Use in Special Populations
