Dosage & Administration
- 300 mg oral loading dose for acute coronary syndrome
- 75 mg daily dosage for other indications
- Oral administration with or without food
Interaction
- Increased bleeding risk with NSAIDs, warfarin, SSRIs, SNRIs
- Avoid concomitant use with CYP2C19 inhibitors like omeprazole
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the drug substance
- Active pathological bleeding
Side Effects
- Common: Bleeding, Diarrhoea, gastrointestinal discomfort
- Rare: Acquired haemophilia, anaemia, arthralgia
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
- Undetermined excretion in human breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Inhibited metabolism by genetic variations in CYP2C19
- Increased risk of bleeding due to platelet aggregation inhibition
- Discontinuation increases risk of cardiovascular events
Use in Special Populations
- No established safety and effectiveness in pediatric populations
- No dosage adjustment in elderly patients
