- Proton pump inhibitor
- Specific inhibition of H+/K+-ATPase
- Enteric-coated pellet formulation
- Peak plasma levels at 1.5 hours
- Metabolized in the liver by CYP enzymes
- Plasma protein binding is 97%
- Approximately 1-1.5 hours elimination half-life
Dosage
- 20 mg or 40 mg Once Daily for Healing of Erosive Esophagitis
- 20 mg Once Daily for Maintenance of Healing
- 20 mg Once Daily for Symptomatic GERD
- 40 mg Once Daily for Helicobacter Pylori eradication
- 20-80 mg once daily for Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
Administration
- Tablet or capsule should be swallowed whole
- Oral Suspension should be taken with water
- IV Injection or IV infusion for specific conditions
Interaction
- Metabolized by CYP2C19 and CYP3A4
- No significant interactions with certain CYP enzymes
- Potential interference with CYP2C19 and gastric pH dependent drugs
- No changes noted with oral contraceptives, diazepam, phenytoin, or quinidine
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to any of the formulation
