Composition

Dosage & Administration

Adult: One Capsule daily before food or as directed by the physician

Interaction

Carbonyl Iron decreases the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics, quinolone antibiotics, levodopa, levothyroxine, methyldopa, and penecillamine
Folic Acid interacts with antiepileptics

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to any component
Iron overload

Side Effects

Gastrointestinal irritations such as nausea, anorexia, vomiting, discomfort, constipation, and diarrhea
Dark stool
Rare allergic reactions

Pregnancy & Lactation

Avoid use in first trimester if possible
Definite evidence of Iron deficiency required for first trimester administration
Justified during remainder of pregnancy for inadequate diet requiring supplementary Zinc and Folic acid

Precautions & Warnings

Special care required in patients with Iron overload states
Failure to respond to treatment requires further investigations
Risk of Zinc accumulation in patients with renal failure

Overdose Effects

Symptoms including decreased energy, nausea, abdominal pain, tarry stool, weak rapid pulse, fever, coma, seizures
