Indications
- Neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN)
- Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN)
- Adjunctive therapy for the treatment of partial-onset seizures in patients 1 month of age and older

Pharmacology
- Structural derivative of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)
- Binds with high affinity to the alpha2-delta site in central nervous system tissues
Dosage
- Maximum recommended dose of Pregabalin for neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy in adults
- Recommended dose of Pregabalin for postherpetic neuralgia in adults
- Recommended dose of Pregabalin for management of fibromyalgia in adults
- Recommended dose range of Pregabalin for neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury in adults
Administration
- Route of administration: Oral
- Pregabalin CR tablet administration: After an evening meal, swallow whole, not split, crushed or chewed
Drug interaction
- Unlikely to be involved in significant pharmacokinetic drug interactions
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Pregabalin or any of its components
Side Effects
- Dizziness
- Somnolence
- Dry mouth
- Edema
- Blurred vision
- Weight gain
- Thinking abnormal
- Increased weight (in pediatric patients for the treatment of partial onset seizures)
- Increased appetite (in pediatric patients for the treatment of partial onset seizures)
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No adequate and well-controlled studies with pregabalin in pregnant women
- Small amounts of pregabalin detected in the milk of lactating women
- Breastfeeding not recommended
Precautions & Warnings
- Angioedema can occur and may be associated with life threatening respiratory compromise
- Discontinue immediately in case of hypersensitivity reactions
- Increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior
- Respiratory depression may occur when used with concomitant CNS depressants
- May cause dizziness and somnolence
- Withdraw gradually over a minimum of 1 week
Use in Special Populations
- Safety and effectiveness not established for pediatric patients with certain conditions
- Safety and effectiveness not established for Neugalin XR extended-release tablet in pediatric patients
Overdose Effects
- Signs and symptoms include reduced consciousness, depression/anxiety, confusional state, agitation, restlessness, seizures, heart block
