Indications

Pharmacology

  • Selective and orally active leukotriene receptor antagonist
  • Inhibits the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor (CysLT1)
  • Correlated with the pathophysiology of asthma & allergic rhinitis

Dosage & Administration

  • Adult dosage: Montelukast 10 mg tablet once daily
  • Pediatric dosage varies as per age group
  • No dosage adjustment required in hepatic or renal insufficiency
  • Similar oral bioavailability in elderly and younger adults

Interaction

  • No apparent increase in adverse reactions in combination with other therapies
