Description
Montemax 5 mg Tablet is indicated for prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma, acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB), and relief of symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis (AR): Seasonal & Perennial Allergic Rhinitis.
Dosage and Administration
- Dosage for adults and adolescents 15 years of age and older: Montelukast 10 mg tablet once daily.
- Dosage for pediatric patients 6 to 14 years of age: Montelukast 5 mg tablet once daily.
- Dosage for pediatric patients 2 to 5 years of age: Montelukast 4 mg tablet once daily.
- Dosage for pediatric patients 6 months to 5 years of age: Montelukast 4 mg oral granules once daily.
- Hepatic insufficiency: No dosage adjustment required.
- Renal insufficiency: No dosage adjustment recommended.
- Elderly use: No dosage adjustment required.
Interaction
Montemax has no apparent increase in adverse reactions when administered with other therapies used in the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to any component of this product.

Pregnancy & Lactation
Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed, caution during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings
Not indicated for use in the reversal of bronchospasm in acute asthma attacks, continue appropriate rescue medication, do not abruptly substitute for inhaled or oral corticosteroids, and should not be used as monotherapy for exercise induced bronchospasm.
Overdose Effects
Adverse experiences may include abdominal pain, somnolence, thirst, headache, vomiting, and psychomotor hyperactivity. Usual supportive measures should be employed in the event of overdose.
