Ticard Plus 5 mg+50 mg (Tablet)

Indications

• Essential hypertension in patients
• Co-existing diseases of angina pectoris & hypertension
• Post myocardial infarction
• Refractory angina pectoris

Pharmacology

• Dihydropyridine calcium antagonist
• Peripheral vasodilator
• Cardioselective beta-blocker
• Reduction in blood pressure
• Reduction in peripheral vascular resistance

Dosage & Administration

Recommended dosage is Amlodipine and Atenolol 5/25 mg tablet once daily. It may be increased to 5/25 mg two tablets daily or as advised by physicians.

Interactions

• Disopyramide reduces clearance and may produce negative inotropic effects
• Ampicillin may reduce Atenolol levels
• Beta-blockers may decrease tissue sensitivity to insulin and inhibit insulin secretion

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to either component
• Sinus bradycardia
• Second and higher degrees of heart block
• Cardiogenic shock
• Hypotension
• Congestive heart failure
• Poor left ventricular function

• Fatigue
• Headache
• Edema
• Nausea
• Drowsiness
• Anxiety
• Depression

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Should be used during pregnancy only if the expected benefit outweighs the potential fetal risk
• Should not be used by nursing mothers

Precautions & Warnings

• Use with caution in patients with airway obstruction
• Can be used in patients with renal impairment
• Caution in patients with severe liver damage
• Patients should be warned against stopping the drug suddenly

Overdose Effects

• Hypotension
• Congestive cardiac failure
• Unabsorbed drugs may be removed by gastric lavage or activated charcoal
