Description

  • Indicated for the treatment of hypertension
  • may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents
  • Blocks the vasoconstrictor effects of angiotensin II
  • Individualized dosage required
  • Usual recommended starting dose of 20 mg once daily
  • Dose may be increased to 40 mg for further reduction in blood pressure
  • No initial dosage adjustment recommended for elderly patients
  • No initial dosage adjustment recommended for patients with moderate to marked renal impairment
  • No initial dosage adjustment recommended for patients with moderate to marked hepatic dysfunction
  • Recommended to consider lower starting dose for patients with possible depletion of intravascular volume

  • Bioavailability not altered by co-administration of antacids
