Indications

Treatment of hypertension

Pharmacology

Olmesartan blocks vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects
Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic affecting renal tubular mechanisms

Dosage & Administration

Usual starting dose: 20/12.5 mg
Dose may be titrated to 40/25 mg once daily
Individualized dosing

Interaction

Olmesartan:
- No significant drug interactions reported
- Not metabolized by cytochrome P450 system
Hydrochlorothiazide:
- Potential interactions with alcohol, barbiturates, or narcotics
- Possible dosage adjustment with antidiabetic drugs

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any component of the product
Anuria or hypersensitivity to sulfonamide-derived drugs

Side Effects

Common: nausea, headache, dizziness, hyperuricemia
