Indications

Treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis
Effective against Aerobic Gram-positive microorganisms
Effective against Aerobic Gram-negative microorganisms
Effective against Chlamydia trachomatis
Intraocular Antibiotic for preventing Postoperative Bacterial Endophthalmitis

Pharmacology

Antimicrobial action from inhibition of topoisomerase II and IV
Inhibition of DNA gyrase enzyme
Inhibition of topoisomerase IV enzyme

Dosage & Administration

Eye Drops: One drop in the affected eye 3 times per day for 7 days
Eye Ointment: Thinly and evenly application 3 times a day for 2 days and then 2 times a day
Intraocular injection: Administered as 0.2-0.4 ml dose

Interaction

No drug-drug interaction studies conducted with Floromox
In vitro studies indicate no inhibition of specific cytochrome P450 isozymes

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with history of hypersensitivity to Moxifloxacin or other quinolones

Side Effects

Frequently reported ocular adverse events including conjunctivitis, decreased visual acuity, dry eye, keratitis, ocular discomfort
Etc.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Use during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
Caution when administered to a nursing mother

Precautions & Warnings

Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms
Discontinue use if superinfection occurs and institute alternative therapy
Examination with magnification and fluorescein staining where appropriate
