- Severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, or dialysis

- Reports of ketoacidosis and pancreatitis
- Risk of volume depletion and hypotension
- Increased risk for urinary tract infections
- Hypoglycemia with concomitant use of insulin and insulin secretagogues
- Rare but serious necrotizing infection (Fournier’s Gangrene)
- Increased risk for genital mycotic infections
- Observation of heart failure in DPP-4 inhibitor treatment
