Indications
- Reduces muscle spasm in the intestine, biliary system, bladder, and uterus
- Used for symptomatic treatment of pain related to digestive and biliary system disorders
- Indicated for the treatment of spasm and pain in urological and gynaecological diseases
Pharmacology
- Tiemonium Methylsulphate is a competitive antagonist of Acetylcholine and Histamine
- Strengthens the bond of calcium with membrane phospholipids and proteins
- Inhibits intracellular contractile protein of visceral cell
Dosage & Administration
- Usual adult dose: 2-6 tablets or 3-9 teaspoonfuls syrup daily in divided doses
- Usual children dose: 3 ml/kg or 6 mg/kg body weight daily in divided doses
- Injection: 1 Tiemonium Methylsulphate Injection 3 times daily through Intravenous or Intramuscular route
- Suppository: 20 mg Tiemonium Methylsulphate suppository two or three times daily through rectal route
Interaction
- Should not be used with other drugs without consulting a registered physician
Contraindications
- Not to be used in urethroprostatic disorder involving a risk of urine retention
- Contraindicated in patients at risk of angle closure glaucoma
Side Effects
- May cause hypotension and tachycardia in certain individuals
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Results of animal studies did not reveal teratogenic effects
- No deformities reported with normal use
- Prudence advised for nursing mothers
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution during treatment of patients with prostate disorders, chronic bronchitis, coronary insufficiency, ambient hyperthermia, renal and hepatic insufficiency
- Risks of visual disturbances may affect driving or use of machines
