Gynest 0.1% (Vaginal Cream)

Indications

• Relieves painful sexual intercourse
• Treats estrogen deficiency during menopause
• Used in postmenopausal women
• Relieves vulvo-vaginal complaints
• Used before surgery
• Treatment of symptoms related to estrogen deficiency
• Treatment of urogenital symptoms

Pharmacology

• Contains estriol hormone
• Normalizes vaginal epithelium
• Restores normal microflora and physiological pH
• Increases resistance to infection and inflammation
• Used in the years before and after menopause
• Particularly used for urogenital symptoms

Dosage

• Each dose contains 0.5 mg estriol
• Initially one dose per day for 3 weeks
• Later may need one dose twice a week
• Before surgery: one dose daily 2 weeks prior
• May need daily application for 7 days before Pap smear

Interaction

• Interaction with anticoagulants
• Interaction with corticosteroid hormones

Contraindications

• Do not use if have or had breast or ovarian cancer
• Do not use if suspected of having cancer or various health conditions
• Do not use if pregnant or suspect pregnancy
• Do not use in cases of unexplained vaginal bleeding or blood clotting disorders
• Do not use if allergic to estriol or its ingredients

Side Effects

• Local irritation or itching of the vagina
• Swelling and increased tenderness of the breasts
• Increased vaginal discharge
• Nausea
• Fluid retention in the tissues
• Other potential side effects including benign and malignant tumors, heart attack, stroke, gall bladder disease, skin problems, venous thromboembolism, and breast cancer risk

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Contraindicated during pregnancy & lactation

Precautions & Warnings

• Continuous observation by doctor during hormone replacement therapy
• Immediate discontinuation in case of certain health conditions
• Not suitable for children
