Usability Features

  • Dosage & Administration:
    • Atrophy of the lower urogenital tract: 4-8 mg/day initially, followed by gradual reduction
    • Pre and postoperative therapy: 4-8 mg/day before surgery, 1-2 mg/day after surgery
    • Climacteric complaints: 4-8 mg/day initially, followed by gradual reduction
    • A diagnostic aid: 2-4 mg/day for 7 days before cervical smear
    • Infertility treatment: 1-2 mg/day on specific days of menstrual cycle
  • Interaction:
    • Increased Effects with Certain Corticosteroids: Dosage adjustment may be necessary
    • Possible Decrease in Effectiveness with Activated Charcoal, Barbiturates, Hydantoins, and Rifampicin: Monitor closely
  • Contraindications:
    • Pregnancy
    • Known or suspected estrogen-dependent tumors
    • Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding
    • Untreated endometrial hyperplasia
    • Known or suspected breast cancer

  • Pregnancy & Lactation:
    • Pregnancy: Contraindicated
    • Breastfeeding: Use only if really needed, as it is excreted in the milk
  • Precautions & Warnings: Periodic medical examinations recommended during prolonged treatment. Concomitant specific treatment for vaginal infections recommended. Dose should not exceed 8 mg to prevent endometrial stimulation.
  • Overdose Effects: Nausea, vomiting, and possible withdrawal bleeding. No specific antidote known. Symptomatic treatment may be necessary.
