Indications

  • Symptomatic treatment of allergic rhino conjunctivitis
  • Symptomatic treatment of urticaria
  • Relief of hay fever symptoms

Pharmacology

  • Potent non-sedating histamine antagonist
  • Selective & high affinity to H1 receptor
  • Does not show affinity for 30 other receptors
  • Excreted by feces and urine

Dosage & Administration

  • 20 mg tablet once daily for adults & adolescents
  • 10 mg mouth dissolving tablet for children 6 to 11 years
  • 4 ml once daily for children 2 to 11 years

Interaction

  • Concomitant use with ketoconazole, erythromycin, cyclosporine or diltiazem increases concentration
  • No potentiation of CNS effects with lorazepam

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to the active substance or excipients

  • Limited data on use in pregnant women
