Dosage
75 mg once daily with or without food
RecommendedDosageForACS
Initial single 300 mg loading dose, then continued at 75 mg once daily with aspirin (75 mg-325 mg once daily)
Pharmacology
Irreversibly inhibits platelet activation and aggregation, dose-dependent inhibition of platelet aggregation at 2 hours
ModeOfAction
Inhibits ADP-induced platelet aggregation by binding to P2Y12 class of ADP receptors, irreversible inhibition of platelet cyclooxygenase by aspirin
Pharmacokinetics
Rapidly absorbed after oral administration, plasma concentrations reaching steady state between Day 3 and Day 7
Interactions
- Clopidogrel potentiates effect of aspirin on collagen-induced platelet aggregation
- Clopidogrel does not necessitate modification of heparin dose or alter its effect
- Increased occult gastrointestinal blood loss when co-administered with NSAIDs
- Concomitant administration with warfarin should be undertaken with caution
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the drug substance or any component of the product
- Active pathological bleeding such as peptic ulcer or intracranial hemorrhage

- Contraindicated during third trimester
- Unknown excretion in human breast milk, aspirin known to be excreted in human milk
