Indications
- Prophylaxis of iron deficiency during pregnancy

Description
- Oral iron, folic acid, and zinc preparation for iron, folic acid, and zinc deficiency
Pharmacology
- Combination of ferrous ascorbate, folic acid, and zinc as nutritional supplements
- Role in iron replenishment, red blood cell formation, and providing nutrition
Dosage & Administration
- Adult & Elderly: One tablet a day before or after a meal
- Pediatric patients: Safety and effectiveness not established
Interactions
- Chelation with tetracycline
- Interference with oral tetracycline antibiotics and penicillamine
- Impairment with concurrent administrations of penicillamine and antacid
Contraindications
- Patients with haemolytic anaemia and hypersensitivity to components
- Patients with increased body iron content
Side Effects
- Mild and transient side effects such as epigastric pain, nausea, constipation, vomiting, and allergic sensitization
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Contact physician if pregnant, planning pregnancy, or currently breastfeeding
- Avoid administration in the first trimester unless definite evidence of iron deficiency
Precautions & Warnings
- Care in patients who may develop iron overload
- Failure to respond to treatment may indicate other causes of anemia
Overdose Effects
- Variable clinical course with symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, hypotension, seizures, shock, and coma
