Pharmacology

  • Combination of two antacids
  • Contains Calcium carbonate and Sodium bicarbonate
  • Contains Sodium alginate
  • Neutralizes excess stomach acid
  • Forms a protective barrier
  • Does not rely on absorption into systemic circulation
  • Rapid reaction with gastric acid
  • Forms a raft of Alginic Acid gel
  • Interacts with and caps the acid pocket
  • Reduces esophageal acid exposure
  • Floats on stomach contents
  • Impedes gastro-esophageal reflux for up to 4 hours
  • Protects esophagus from Acid, Pepsin, and Bile

Dosage & Administration

  • Recommended doses for adults and children over 12 years
  • Recommended doses for children 6 to 12 years

  • No dose modifications necessary for elderly
  • No dose modifications necessary for hepatic impairment
  • Caution with highly restricted salt diet for renal insufficiency

Interaction

  • Consider a 2-hour time-interval with other medicinal products
  • Particularly Tetracyclines, Digoxine, Fluoroquinolone, Iron salt, Ketoconazole, Neuroleptics, Thyroid Hormones, Penicillamine, beta-blockers, Glucocorticoid, Chloroquine, Biphosphonates, and Estramustine

  • Hypersensitivity to active ingredients or excipients

  • Not recommended for patients with phenylketonuria
  • Not to be used in patients with impaired renal function/insufficiency and with hypophosphatemia
  • May mask symptoms of other serious medical conditions
  • May cause allergic reactions
