Indications
- Neuropathic Pain
- Adjunctive therapy in partial seizure and secondary generalized seizure
Pharmacology
- Anti-convulsant
- Structural analog of gamma-amino-butyric-acid (GABA)
- Binding with the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage gated L-type Calcium channel
- Inhibition of branched chain amino acid transferase
- Inhibition of neurotransmitter release of excitatory amino acid
Dosage
- 300 mg single dose on Day-1
- 300 mg twice on Day-2
- 300 mg thrice on Day-3
- Daily dose of 1800 mg for Neuropathic Pain
- Effective dose of 900 to 1800 mg/day for Epilepsy
- Starting dose of 300 mg three times a day for patients over 12 years of age
- Starting dose range from 10-15 mg/kg/day for pediatric patients age 3-12 year
Administration
Orally with or without food
Interaction
- Reduction in bioavailability when taken with antacids
- Alteration in renal excretion with Cimetidine

Known hypersensitivity to the drug
