Indications
- Schizophrenia treatment
- Treatment of related psychoses

Pharmacology

Dosage
- Initial dose of 5-10 mg once daily
- Maximum dose of 20 mg daily
- Dosage adjustments based on clinical status
Administration
- Can be given without regard to meals
- Gradual tapering of the dose recommended while discontinuing
Interaction
- Antagonizes effects of levodopa and dopamine agonists
- Influenced by CYP1A2 inducers and inhibitors
- Carbamazepine may increase clearance
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any ingredient
- Known risk for narrow-angle glaucoma

Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in patients with history of seizures
- Use cautiously in patients with low leukocyte and/or neutrophil counts
- Caution in patients with impaired hepatic function
- Caution in patients with conditions increasing QT interval
- Caution in elderly patients operating hazardous machinery
Use in Special Populations
- Not studied in subjects under 18 years of age
- Starting dose for elderly patients and those with hepatic or renal impairment
