Rupsol 5% (Oral Paste)

Indications

• Treatment of aphthous ulcers

Pharmacology

• Accelerates healing of aphthous ulcers
• Inhibitor of inflammatory mediators
• Anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory activities

Dosage & Administration

• Apply paste four times daily
• Dry the ulcer(s) before application
• Wash hands before and after applying
• Moisten the fingertip before application
• Use until the ulcer heals
• Consult physician if no improvement in 10 days

Contraindications

• Known hypersensitivity to Amlexanox or other ingredients

Side Effects

• Transient pain, stinging, and/or burning at the site of application
• Contact mucositis, nausea, and diarrhea (infrequent)

Pregnancy & Lactation

• US FDA pregnancy category B
• No well-controlled studies in pregnant women
• Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
• Caution during lactation

Precautions & Warnings

• Wash hands immediately after applying
• Discontinue use if rash or contact mucositis occurs

Use in Special Populations

• Safety and effectiveness not established in pediatric patients

Overdose Effects

• Ingestion of full tube unlikely to result in toxic exposure
• Gastrointestinal upset possible

Storage Conditions

• Store in cool & dry place
• Protect from light
• Keep out of reach of children
