Indications
- Treatment of androgenic alopecia in males and females
- Stabilisation of hair loss in patients with androgenic alopecia
- Treatment of alopecia areata
Pharmacology
- Minoxidil stimulates hair growth
- Increases oxygen, blood and nutrients supply to the hair follicle
- Widens blood vessels
- Inhibits androgen hormone's effects on hair follicles
- Topical application absorption
- Serum Minoxidil levels
- Metabolites excretion in urine
Dosage & Administration
- External use only
- Apply to clean and dry hair and scalp
- Apply 1 ml (7 sprays) twice daily
- Allow to remain on the scalp for about 4 hours before washing
- Night-time application timing
- No massaging into the scalp
- Avoid using a hair dryer
- Not to be mixed with any hair oil
- Not to be taken orally
- Hand washing after application
- Clinical experience indicating usage duration for hair growth
- Usage duration for hair fall arrest
Interaction
- Avoid use with topical agents altering stratum corneum barrier
- Potential potentiation of orthostatic hypotension caused by peripheral vasodilators
Contraindications
- Patients with cardiac abnormalities
- Children below 18 years of age
- Patients using occlusive dressings or other medicines on the scalp
- Patients with scalp infections, psoriasis, sunburn
