Dosage Forms
- Oral solution

Dosage Instructions
- Usual dose for adults: 500-1000 mg 3 times daily
- Mean recommended daily doses for prophylaxis: 0.5-1 gm orally, 500 mg by parenteral route
- Increased oral dose for therapy of hemorrhagic manifestations: 1-3 gm given in divided doses
Administration
- Oral administration for adults and children
- Parenteral administration for children
- No reduction in dosage for elderly patients unless evidence of renal failure
Interaction
- Incompatibility with solutions containing penicillins
- Antagonism with thrombolytic drugs like Streptokinase & Urokinase
- Potential increase in thrombus formation by concomitant administration with estrogen-containing drugs
Contraindications
- Known individual hypersensitivity to the product
- Thromboembolic disease
- Arterial and venous thrombosis
- Endocavitary hemorrhages
- Serious kidney failure

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Avoidance during known and presumed pregnancy
- Passage into breast milk at low concentration unlikely to have antifibrinolytic effect in the infant
Precautions
- Use in hyperfibrinolysis cases
- Prophylactic treatment initiation 24 hours before operation and continued until 3-4 days after
- Prolonged therapy of hemorrhages for at least 24 hours after manifestations have disappeared
- Dose reduction in hematuria to prevent clot formation in urinary tract
- Avoid use in serious renal insufficiency or anuric syndromes
- Use with caution in less serious renal dysfunctions
- Particular care required in cardiopathic and hepatopathic subjects
