Indications

Single and mixed infestations of hookworm, roundworm, threadworm, whipworm, strongyloides, tapeworm, opisthorchi, hydatid

Description

Benzimidazole anthelmintic
Active against most nematodes and some cestodes
Vermicidal, ovicidal, and larvicidal activity
Inhibitory effect on tubulin polymerization

Pharmacology

Broad spectrum anthelmintic
Exhibits vermicidal, ovicidal, and larvicidal activities
Blocks glucose uptake in susceptible helminths
Depletes energy level in helminths
Binds and inhibits parasite tubulin polymerization

Dosage & Administration

Recommended doses for adults, children over 2 years, and children of 1-2 years
Special dosage for patients with hydatid disease
Treatment regimen for cystic echinococcosis and alveolar echinococcosis

Interaction

Contraindications

Not recommended for neonates
Possible dose reduction for children under 10 kg
Avoid use in pregnant women
