Description

Nozma ODT 4 mg Tablet is indicated for prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma, acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB), and relief of symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis (AR), including Seasonal & Perennial Allergic Rhinitis.

Technical specifications

Age group dosage:
- Adults and adolescents: Montelukast 10 mg tablet once daily
- Pediatric patients:
  - 6 to 14 years: Montelukast 5 mg tablet once daily
  - 2 to 5 years: Montelukast 4 mg tablet once daily
  - 6 months to 5 years: Montelukast 4 mg oral granules once daily
Hepatic insufficiency: No dosage adjustment required for mild-to-moderate hepatic insufficiency
Renal insufficiency: No dosage adjustment recommended for patients with renal insufficiency
Elderly use: Similar pharmacokinetic profile and oral bioavailability as in younger adults, slightly longer plasma half-life
Overdose effects:
- Most frequent adverse experiences:
  - Abdominal pain
  - Somnolence
  - Thirst
  - Headache
  - Vomiting
  - Psychomotor hyperactivity

Pharmacology

Montelukast is a selective and orally active leukotriene receptor antagonist that inhibits the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor (CysLT1).

Interaction

No clinically important effects on pharmacokinetics of:
- Theophylline
- Prednisone
- Prednisolone
- Oral contraceptives
- Terfenadine
- Digoxin
- Warfarin
Used concomitantly with:
- Thyroid hormones
- Sedative hypnotics
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents
- Benzodiazepines
- Decongestants
Phenobarbital interaction:
- Decreased AUC of Nozma ODT: Approximately 40%
- Recommended monitoring when co-administered with:
  - Phenobarbital
  - Rifampin
