Indications
- Treatment of superficial infections caused by gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
- Burns treatment
- Regeneration of skin in wounds and ulceration
- Treatment of otitis externa
- Treatment of postoperative infections
- Treatment of neuro-dermatitis and eczema
- Adjunct to systemic steroid therapy in special pyoderma
Pharmacology
- Active topical corticosteroid (Betamethasone)
- Rapid response in inflammatory dermatoses
- Effective in curing psoriasis types of skin diseases
- Topical broad-spectrum bactericidal amino-glycoside (Neomycin Sulfate)
- Effective against gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens
- Effective penetration and distribution capacity
- Effective for the treatment of wet ulceration of the skin
Dosage & Administration
- Use in adults: Applied as a thin layer 3 to 4 times daily
- Withdrawal of treatment in chronic conditions
- Use in children: Not recommended for children under 1 year of age
- Maximum 5-day course for children unless otherwise directed by physician
Interaction
- No significant drug interactions reported
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any components
- Not for use in otitis externa with perforated eardrum
- Not for use in skin lesions caused by viruses and fungi
Side Effects
- Well tolerated in general
- Prolonged high doses may cause Cushing's syndrome
- Prolonged high doses may cause acne
- Prolonged high doses may cause thinning and dilatation of blood vessels
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended for extensive use in pregnancy
Precautions & Warnings
- Avoid long-term continuous topical therapy
- Accurate dose should be used in infected areas only
