Dosage and Administration
- Usual Dose: 500-1000 mg 3 times daily for adults
- Prophylaxis Dose: 0.5-1 gm orally, 500 mg by parenteral route
- Therapy of Hemorrhagic Manifestations: 1-3 gm given in divided doses for adults
- Dosing for Children based on body weight
- No reduction in dosage for elderly patients unless evidence of renal failure

Interaction
- Incompatibility with solutions containing penicillins
- Antagonism with Thrombolytic drugs like Streptokinase & Urokinase
- Potential for increased thrombus formation with concomitant administration of estrogen-containing drugs
- Avoid direct admixture with whole blood during transfusion

Pregnancy & Lactation

Precautions & Warnings
- Use in Hyperfibrinolysis cases
- Prophylactic treatment initiation before operation and continuation after it
- Prolonged therapy of hemorrhages even after manifestations have disappeared
- Caution in hematuria to prevent clot formation in urinary tract
- Avoid use in serious renal insufficiency or anuric syndromes, use with caution in less serious renal dysfunctions
- Particular care required in cardiopathic and hepatopathic subjects
