Indications

  • Indicated for infections caused by sensitive Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
  • Treats upper respiratory tract infections like sinusitis and tonsillitis
  • Treats lower respiratory tract infections like bronchitis and pneumonia
  • Treats urinary tract infections like cystitis and pyelonephritis
  • Treats skin and soft tissue infections like abscess and cellulitis
  • Susceptible to various microorganisms like Staphylococci and Escherichia coli

Pharmacology

  • Semisynthetic broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic
  • Active against both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
  • Inhibits cross-linking process in bacterial cell wall

Dosage & Administration

  • Oral administration for adults and children
  • Injectable administration for adults and children
  • Dosage adjustment in renal impairment
  • Maximum daily dosage of 4 gm for certain infections

Interaction

  • Increased risk of kidney damage with nephrotoxic drugs

Contraindications
