Indications
- Indicated to improve glycemic control in adults and children with diabetes mellitus
Composition
- Each ml suspension contains 100 IU (equivalent to 3.50 mg) Insulin Aspart (rDNA) BP as 30% soluble Insulin Aspart and 70% protamine-crystallised Insulin Aspart
Description
- Sterile suspension of human insulin analog containing 30% soluble Rapilog and 70% protamine-crystallised Rapilog
- Blood glucose lowering agent with earlier onset and intermediate duration of action
Pharmacology
- Regulates glucose metabolism by binding to insulin receptors on muscle and fat cells
Dosage
- Individual and determined by the physician according to patient's needs
- Can be given in mono-therapy or in combination with oral antidiabetic drugs
- Recommended starting dose for type 2 diabetes
- Dose adjustments can be made once a week until target HbA1c is reached
- Usual insulin requirement for type 1 diabetes is between 0.5 and 1.0 IU/kg/day
Administration
- Administer 5-10 min before meal
Interaction
- Some drugs may require dose adjustment when used with Insulin Aspart
Contraindications
- Contraindicated during episodes of hypoglycemia
- In patients with hypersensitivity to Insulin Aspart or its excipients

Use in Special Populations
- Decreased dose may be necessary in patients with renal impairment
- Decreased dose may be necessary in patients with hepatic impairment
Overdose Effects
- Hypoglycemia may develop over sequential stages if too high doses are administered
- Mild hypoglycemic episodes can be treated by oral administration of glucose or sugary products
- Severe hypoglycemic episodes can be treated by glucagon given intramuscularly or subcutaneously
