Indications

Pharmacology
- Fibric acid derivative
- Rapidly hydrolyzed after oral ingestion
- Reductions in total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol
- Increases in HDL and apo-proteins
- Reduces serum uric acid levels
Dosage & Administration
- Initial dose of 200 mg per day for hypercholesterolemia
- Individualized dose according to patient response
- Administered with a meal for optimizing bioavailability
Interaction
- Potentiates the anticoagulant effects of warfarin
- May improve glucose tolerance when administered with antidiabetic drug
- Increases nephrotoxicity of cyclosporine
- Potential increase in the risk of rhabdomyolysis with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Fenofibrate
- Severe renal or hepatic impairment
- Existing gall bladder disease
- Breastfeeding mothers
- Photosensitivity to ketoprofen

- Gastro-intestinal issues like nausea and anorexia
- Pruritus and urticaria
- Impotence
- Headache, dizziness, vertigo, fatigue, and hair loss
