Description
- Treatment of mild to moderate Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF)
- Novel agent with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-fibrotic properties
- Improves lung function
- Reduces acute exacerbations in patients with IPF
- Suppresses TGF-β1 production
- Downregulates expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines
- Inhibits influx of inflammatory cells
- Inhibits increased pulmonary vascular permeability induced by bleomycin
- Orally administered with food
- Dosage titration over a 14-day period
- Recommended daily dose for adults: 2403 mg/day
- Dose adjustment for gastrointestinal events
- Dose adjustment for photosensitivity reaction or rash
- Dose adjustment for significant elevation of ALT/AST
- Interaction with moderate and strong CYP1A2 inhibitors
- No interaction with food
- Contraindicated in hypersensitivity, concomitant use of fluvoxamine, severe hepatic impairment, severe renal impairment, end stage liver disease, end stage renal disease requiring dialysis
- Common side effects: nausea, rash, abdominal pain, upper respiratory tract infection, diarrhea, fatigue, headache, dyspepsia, dizziness, vomiting, anorexia, sinusitis, insomnia, weight decrease, arthralgia
- Rare side effects: photosensitivity reaction, decreased appetite, pruritus, asthenia, dysgeusia, non-cardiac chest pain
- Precaution for elevated liver enzymes
- Precaution for photosensitivity and rash
- Precaution for gastrointestinal disorders
- Not recommended for use in children & adolescents
