Pharmacology
- Fibric acid derivative
- Reductions in total cholesterol
- LDL cholesterol
- Triglycerides
- Increases in HDL
- Reduces serum uric acid levels
Dosage & Administration
- Initial dose of 200 mg per day for hypercholesterolemia or mixed hyperlipidemia
- Initial dose of 67 to 200 mg per day for hypertriglyceridemia
- Dose individualization according to patient response
- Administer with meal
Interaction
- Potentiates anticoagulant effects of warfarin
- Improves glucose tolerance when administered with antidiabetic drug
- Increases nephrotoxicity of cyclosporine
- Cautions against use with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Fenofibrate
- Severe renal or hepatic impairment
- Existing gall bladder disease
- Breastfeeding mothers
- Photosensitivity to ketoprofen
