Pharmacology
- Fibric acid derivative

- Reductions in cholesterol levels

Dosage & Administration
- Initial dose 200mg/day for hypercholesterolemia
- Initial dose 67-200mg/day for hypertriglyceridemia
- Individualized dosing
- Taken with meals for optimal bioavailability
Interaction
- Potentiates anticoagulant effects of warfarin
- Improves glucose tolerance with antidiabetic drugs
- Increases nephrotoxicity of cyclosporine
- Caution with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors
