Pharmacology

  • Histamine H2-receptor antagonist
  • Inhibition of gastric acid secretion
  • Reversible H2-receptor antagonist activity

Dosage & Administration

  • Usual adult dose: Famotidine 20mg twice daily
  • Alternative adult dose: Famotidine 40mg once daily
  • Pediatric dose for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
  • Pediatric dose for Duodenal ulcer
  • Pediatric dose for Peptic ulcer
  • Maintenance therapy dose
  • Dosage adjustments for age and symptoms

Interaction

  • No clinically important drug interactions
  • No interaction with cytochrome P450-linked drug-metabolizing enzyme system

  • Known hypersensitivity to any component of the drug
